Obtaining precise and reliable figures to make better projections is the objective of the new economic council created by the builders' union.

The Economic Advisory Council for Construction (COCEC) is a new body of the builders' union that will seek to specify data such as volumes of square meters built, housing programs, commercial, industrial, road, land use, public investments and indicators of economic terms and productivity.

The president of the Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac), Iván De Ycaza, told Panamaamerica.com.pa that " ... 'it is important to deepen and discriminate the figures and statistics that are received from different sources, such as the General Comptroller's Office, contractors, among others, that really allow for analysis and projections to be made for decision making."

"The council will look for a way to establish a methodology that allows productivity in construction to be measured, which represents a challenge for the sector, since according to its members, there is no precise information and this is necessary in the face of high costs."
